Privacy Policy

This is the privacy policy for Raka (the "App"), a mobile and web application that provides AI-powered tarot readings, astrology, and reflective conversations.
We've tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at support@raka.app.
What we collect
When you use Raka, the following data is created or collected:
1. Account data (only if you sign in with Apple, Google, or email)
- Your name, if the provider shares it
- Your email, if the provider shares it
- A stable user ID
2. Profile data (you provide)
- Your name (first name only)
- Your date of birth
- Pronoun choice
- Focus areas (e.g. career, love, healing)
- Guidance tone preference
- Optionally: birth time, birth place
3. Activity data (created as you use the app, stored on your device)
- Chat messages with Raka
- Tarot pulls and readings
- Journal entries (text or voice-transcribed)
- Synchronicity log entries
- Course progress
- Subscription tier
4. Audio (only if you use voice features)
- Voice recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper API for transcription
- They are not stored on our servers — they pass through and are discarded
- The transcribed text is what's saved (locally) as part of your chat or journal
5. Push notification token (only if you enable daily ritual)
- An Expo push token + your preferred local hour + timezone
- Stored on our Cloudflare KV namespace
- Deleted when you turn off daily push or delete your account
We do not collect:
- Your contacts, photos, calendar, or location
- Your IP address (beyond Cloudflare's standard request logs)
- Your real name or any government ID
- Any biometric or health data
How we use it
- To personalise your readings, affirmations, and conversations with Raka
- To compute your birth chart and run synastry / numerology
- To send daily reminder notifications, if you opt in
- To detect crisis-related language and surface mental-health resources
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.
Third parties that process your data
When you use AI features, your prompts are sent to one of these providers. They each have their own privacy policies, linked below:
- Anthropic — AI text generation (chat, readings, etc.). anthropic.com/privacy
- OpenAI — Voice transcription only. openai.com/privacy
- ElevenLabs — Voice synthesis only. elevenlabs.io/privacy
- Replicate — Generative card art (Mystic tier only). replicate.com/privacy
- Cloudflare Workers + KV — Hosts our API. cloudflare.com/privacy
- Expo / EAS — Hosts push notification delivery. expo.dev/privacy
- RevenueCat (if you subscribe) — Subscription management. revenuecat.com/privacy
- Apple / Google — App store billing for subscriptions.
We don't send any of these providers more than what's strictly needed to complete the request.
Where your data lives
- On your device: profile, chat history, journal, course progress (SQLite on iOS/Android; localStorage on web).
- On Cloudflare: only your push notification token + delivery preferences.
- In transit: HTTPS / TLS 1.3.
How to delete everything
In the app: Settings → Delete account permanently. This:
- Wipes your profile, chat history, journal, tarot pulls, course progress, and synchronicity log from your device
- Unregisters your push notification token from our servers
- Signs you out
This action is irreversible. You can also email us at support@raka.app if you want a manual data deletion.
Children
Raka is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. We enforce this with an age gate at first launch.
Crisis content
If you describe self-harm, suicidal ideation, abuse, or active crisis to Raka, the app immediately surfaces a screen with real-world resources: 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), Samaritans (UK), Crisis Text Line, Lifeline (AU), and more. Raka is an AI — not a substitute for professional crisis support.

Raka is for entertainment and self-reflection. Nothing in the app constitutes medical, legal, financial, or therapeutic advice. If you need professional help, seek a licensed professional.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and notify you in-app before the changes take effect.
